What is screencasting?
What is screencasting? A screencast is a digital recording of a computer or tablet screen output, also known as a video screen capture, often containing audio narration. The following iPad apps allow teachers or students to create screencasts with relative ease.
How are screencasts used in education?
- Teachers explain a concept or record a process for students to access at school or at home (Watch before the lesson for the Flipped Classroom Model; watch after a lesson for reinforcement and review)
- Students explain a concept or a process to demonstrate deep understanding
- Students can use screencasting apps for: digital storytelling, social stories, factual report slideshows, news reports, book reviews, documentaries, historical reenactments, public service announcements, "A Day in the Life of...", video field trip tours, etc.
- Link screencasts to QR codes around the classroom to make your class come alive!
